What is Spot UV?
Spot UV is the application of varnishes to distinct sections of a printed document, like logos or text, to achieve a glossy and subtly raised effect. While typical varnishes cover entire pages for a shiny or matte finish, Spot UV employs an extra plate to overprint varnish onto specific areas of the design. The ‘UV’ in Spot UV signifies the use of ultraviolet exposure to swiftly dry the varnish coating, resulting in a noticeable shine effect.
